#UnitedKingdom, December 16, 2022 – Two UK families are shattered after the initial sole survivor of the Solihull tragedy in the country where four children plunged into an icy leak, has now died. West Midlands Police are reporting that three of them came from one family: two brothers and one cousin. They shared the update with the public via social media.
Six year old Samuel Butler passed away on Wednesday, two days after his elder brother Finlay Butler, 8 and cousin Thomas Stewart, 11.
The three along with another young man, Jack Johnson, were pulled from the lake on Sunday already in cardiac arrest after the thin ice they were playing on, cracked.
Thomas leaves behind an older brother.
The families were kind enough to share photos of the boys all red cheeked and smiling.
The parents told the Police, “As a family we are devastated at the loss of our beautiful boys Tom, Fin and Sam in such tragic circumstances. We would like to thank the emergency services for all they did in rescuing the boys and to the community for their support, it has been overwhelming. We would like to pass on our condolences to Jack’s family at this very sad time, and ask for privacy from the media to begin to grieve.”
Thomas’ brother was allowed to also give his tribute, to his brother and cousin, part of it read, “I love you Tom, big bro will take care of the family and I will see you soon. Make sure you keep practicing on Warzone and get a win, will you? Can’t forget about my dinosaur man Fin, he loved dinosaurs so much and was always showing me new things he built on Minecraft and all the new stuff he learnt on it. Gonna miss you little man.”
The boy had not yet been told that Sam had passed away as well.
The police have confirmed that despite reports other children were on the water at the time, no one else had fallen in.
