#TurksandCaicos, July 5, 2022 – Twenty-eight marines from the TCI Regiment’s 43 members will be tactically equipped to competently deliver humanitarian support thanks to exercises arranged with a Short-Term Training Team of the British Army; the training happens this coming Sunday July 10.
The National Security Council, in reporting recently on the National Emergency Operations Committee explained they have been proactively conducting Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercises in partnership with the UK Ministry of Defence.
Additionally come August 1st a ship from the UK’s Royal Navy aptly named ‘HMS Protector’ will be in the region to provide disaster relief to overseas territories should it be needed.
The National Security Council has been meeting consistently with partners including the airports and telecommunications companies to make sure the islands will have maximum support should a hurricane hit the Turks and Caicos.
“Hurricane preparedness is a top priority for the Turks & Caicos Islands Government which is ready to provide critical assistance and support recovery from any widespread damage caused by hurricanes in 2022,” informed a media statement obtained by Magnetic Media.
This 2022 Atlantic Hurricane season is forecast to be one of the busiest in years and while there are slight variations in predictions most meteorologists estimate we are in for more than 15 named storms. Already there have been three at only 35 days into the new season.
