#TurksandCaicos, May 16, 2022 – The level of crime against tourists in TCI has now brought an official warning from the US Government. Issued by the US Embassy office based in Nassau, Bahamas there is a new security alert and it itemizes crime incidents which have taken place, including the an armed robbery of guests in Grand Turk, at one of the short term rental properties there.
In an email obtained by Magnetic Media the Embassy warns its citizens, “Exercise vigilance due to an increase in reported crime in the Turks and Caicos islands.”
The Embassy said it was aware of at least five robberies committed against American citizens; four in Providenciales and one in Grand Turk. The release urged Americans to be vigilant, use caution while driving at night, remove all items of value from plain sight in vehicles, not to physically resist any robbery attempt and to review their personal security plans.
For the past few weeks tourists and locals have been subject to dangerous armed robberies where American guests have been shot, chopped with a machete, gun butted and left stranded with young children.
