#Canada, April 7, 2022 – Canadians are ready to cruise once more! On March 31 the Canadian Government announced it was “committed to the restart of the cruise season in Canada with mitigation measures in place for COVID-19.”

It also removed its ban against cruise travel for Canadian travelers instead just advising caution.

Additionally, April 1 also meant the end to the need for Canadians returning home to have a negative PCR or negative Antigen test.

The Canadian Federal Government announced, “As of today, April 1, fully vaccinated travellers entering Canada will no longer be required to provide a pre-entry COVID-19 test.”Travel Pulse Canada also reports that Expedia is predicting huge travel increases from Canada for 2022. Canada had been one of the more conservative western countries during the COVID19 pandemic.

In a report called the Traveler Value Index, Ariane Gorin, President, Expedia for Business said, “Travel is about to experience a year unlike ever before.”

The index found that 91 per cent of travelers plan to take a leisure trip in the next six months.

Seventy-two per cent of Canadian travelers expect to take a trip by car over the next 12 months, with nearly 1 in 5 (19%) expecting to take a trip by cruise or ship.

Interestingly more than half of Canadians say they are willing to spend more on travel now.

It bodes well for the Turks and Caicos and the Caribbean as Canada is the second largest feeder market.
