TCI at Level 4 Alert with US State Department; COVID 19 surge influences high risk rating

#TurksandCaicos, February 2, 2021 – This time it is not the crime rate or limited medical services which has been flagged by the Department of State of the US, it is our Level 4 Alert with the CDC which has pushed Turks and Caicos to a Level 4 Travel Advisory.

The message to Americans:  Do not Travel.

“Travelers to the Turks and Caicos may experience border closures, airport closures, travel prohibitions, stay at home orders, business closures and other emergency conditions within the Turks and Caicos Islands due to Covid-19.”

The alerts are often ‘boo-hooed’ by resorts who remind that vacations to the Turks and Caicos Islands are more akin to what celebrities like the Kardashian’s, Jennifer Lopez, Christy Brinkley, Brad Pitt and the X Factor’s Nicole Scherzinger have shown off to their legions of followers on their social media in recent weeks; relaxing vistas, impeccable beaches, luxury amenities and alluring back drops for sexy selfies, gorgeous family photos  and leisure travel sublime.

Still there is a crime warning; one which has been repeated since 2018.

“The vast majority of crime occurs in Providenciales.  Local medical care and criminal investigative capabilities are limited.”

The alert was updated on Monday February 1, 2021.
