BAHAMAS: ACDF Visits Abaco Deployment

Coral Harbour Base, December 12, 2019 – Bahamas – The hardworking Defence Force Troops assigned to assist with hurricane relief efforts on Abaco welcomed Captain Raymond King, Acting Commander Defence Force on Thursday December 5, 2019 during his tour of the island, assessing the current status. 

Commander Michael Simmons, Commanding Officer Northern Command and Commanding Officer Hurricane Relief (Abaco and Grand Bahama) who has been appointed to lead in disaster recovery in the Northern Bahamas, along with a very capable cadre of Officers and Marines met with the Acting Commander Defence Force providing details as required.  

 The Acting Commodore visited an array of essential sites where the Marines are deployed and engaged with them, celebrating their tireless efforts.  He sang their praises particularly in ensuring the security and safety of the residents on the island, and assured them that the country is proud of the tasks they are accomplishing. Captain King’s final stop was at the Marsh Harbour Main Base. This is the Mobile Base Container City that was procured under the Sandy Bottom Project, for such times.  He viewed berthing accommodations, the osmosis water maker and the Galley.

Taking advantage of the situation to strategize the ACDF met with Superintendent Roderick McKenzie and Assistant Police Kendal Smith of the Royal Bahamas Police Force along with RBDF Senior Officers and Senior Enlisted to discuss joint operational strategies in maintaining law and order in Abaco.
