Government Ministers Updated on the Progress of Works at the Airport in Grand Bahama

#Freeport, GB, November 25, 2019 – Bahamas – Minister of State for Disaster Preparedness, Management and Reconstruction, the Hon. Iram Lewis; Minister of State for Grand Bahama in the Office of the Prime Minister, Senator the Hon. J. Kwasi Thompson, along with Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Harcourt Brown, were given a progress report by airport officials on works being done at the airport in Grand Bahama, Thursday, November 21, 2019.

Freeport Container Port Corporate and Government Affairs Director, Sherry Brookes; Director of the Airport Company, Chanan Frith-Jones and Operations Manager of the Airport Company, Kevin Odelus were all present to discuss and explain the progress and layout of the building,
The 8,200 square foot building will have areas for the Royal Bahamas Police Force, Department of Immigration, Customs, the cashier for Customs and between 120-150 passengers.

Airlines such as Bahamasair, Sunwing, Flamingo Air, American Airlines, Silver and additional airlines that wish to come in for domestic and international will be accommodated in the space.

According to Minister Thompson, “The space is a smaller space than what was in the domestic and the international, however, the Airport Company has done their best to accommodate both domestic and international flights in this space. We are expecting the airport will be open for international flights very shortly, once all of the renovations are completed and all of the necessary approvals are given.”
