#Providenciales, October 16, 2019 – Turks and Caicos – On October 15th, 2019, The Royal Turks
and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) in a Joint Press Conference with The
Governor’s Office and the Turks and Caicos Islands Government, updated the
Country on initiatives to improve stronger police presence in the fight against
the recent increased level of serious crime.
The RTCIPF in its commitment to maintaining
a safe community and addressing the needs of our citizens and visitors will
receive external assistance from the Royal Bermuda Police Service, who will
provide investigative support, with other areas to be determined. The Officers
will arrive in the Country during the week commencing October 21st, 2019.
Acting Commissioner of Police Mr. Rodney
Adams said, “The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force will continue to
roll out its Policing Plan to deter criminal activity and to keep the residents
of these islands safe. We welcome the additional support from the Royal Bermuda
Police Service. These officers will be placed where they are needed the most
and coupled with our Officers working around the clock will transform the Turks
and Caicos Islands into a place where criminals think twice before breaking the
law.
Following the recruitment exercise conducted earlier this year and the recent approval of an additional 20 Officers, we continue to increase our policing numbers and will be sending our recruits to the Regional Police Training Centre in Barbados; with the first batch of Officers leaving on Friday, October 18th and the second batch in early 2020. Through these efforts, we want to ensure that the Turks and Caicos Islands is a better place to live, work and visit.
