#Providenciales, August 27, 2018 – Turks and Caicos – Five armed robberies happened in Provo over the weekend between Saturday night and  Monday morning and Police say they are doing everything they can to get a handle on the surge in robberies and gun crimes.

Two stores on Airport road were robbed between 11:30pm and 6:30am Saturday and Sunday;  A bar in Kew Town was robbed on Sunday night and soon after, there was another robbery in the parking lot of a Bight area apartment complex.  A second apartment complex was robbed, this time in Grace Bay shortly after midnight on Monday.

Acting Commissioner of Police Trevor Botting said patrols are beefed-up, there is a need for public help in solving the crimes and this: “We would like to encourage all members of the public to always remain vigilant in the day and during the hours of darkness.  Avoid walking alone in dark, in isolated areas especially in parking lots, avoid carrying large amounts of cash and try to always use an ATM/Debit card when possible and avoid using ATM machines at night located in isolated areas.  Please report anything or anyone you believe is suspicious. With your help, we can bring those who are committing these offences to justice.”

Ironically, the crime spree erupts just before the CCTV system is due to go live.
