No school tomorrow for Turks and Caicos, preparations for Hurricane Irma intensify

#TurksandCaicos, September 5, 2017 – Providenciales – A change of plans as TCIG today announced that schools will be closed tomorrow and until dangerous Category 5 #HurricaneIrma blows by and the all clear is given.    Residents are bracing for the storm which is right now drenching the Lesser Antilles; banks, hardware stores, grocery stores were all buzzing with activity and already merchants were out of items like matches, batteries, lanterns, lumber, sand bags and even water.

Once again the forecast track is changed slightly and Irma is projected as of 2pm today to put the Turks and Caicos island chain back into her most ferocious quadrant.    The Turks and Caicos was today put on Hurricane Watch by the Bahamas Department of Meteorology and despite the rains and thunderstorms today, these have absolutely nothing to do with Hurricane Irma.

The rains, which have been falling sporadically since weekend, will however saturate grounds and make localized and wide spread flooding even more likely.
