Hurricane Irma Preparedness: Vessel Operators

Turks and Caicos, September 5th, 2017 – Providenciales –  The Department of Maritime and Shipping Office hereby request that all Captains, Skippers, Charter Companies prepare themselves for Hurricane Irma.
 
Small vessels 20” and under should be taken out of the waters immediately. Vessels that cannot be removed from the water should be taken to the marina where they can be safely secured during the hurricane.
 
Cargo vessels should be properly moored, using several anchors to be able to withstand hurricane force winds in excess of 115 mph.
 
We advise that all vessels that are taken to the marina be checked and properly secured. Also check vessels after the hurricane to avoid sinking or damages.
 
Follow alerts given via the local media and be guided accordingly.
