Bahamas, September 6th, 2017 – Nassau – As Hurricane Irma makes its way closer to the islands of the Bahamas, the Ministry of Education has taken advice from the meteorological office and officially closed all public schools throughout the commonwealth as of 3pm today.

The Ministry says it will keep parents and teachers informed through its social media pages and official website. Additionally, an announcement was just made to officially advise that all non-essential government offices will also be closed at 5pm today until further notice.

Other private businesses are closely following suit by closing their offices and stores this afternoon as a hurricane warning is now in effect.
