Bahamas, April 25, 2017 – Nassau – Some 350 Bahamians were registered on day one of the National Health Insurance enrollment drive. The Ministry of Health is attempted to clarify misunderstandings surrounding the enrollment of NHI including that Bahamian citizens and legal residents can choose their primary care provider from the public or private sector.
The list of physicians and health care facilities was published on Monday and the list will grow by the day, it is expected. But a preferred provider’s list is not yet ready for the Family Islands, the Ministry explained that they are still in the process of finalizing the inclusion of Family Island Health Centres in the NHI Bahamas.
Online registration is also provided, at www.nhibahamas.gov.bs.
