Haitians Intercepted: New Year, Same Routine

Providenciales, TCI, January 5, 2016 – TCI Police and Immigration Departments found themselves earlier today processing an illegally intercepted boat load of Haitians. It is unclear how many were found on the wooden sloop, but the Immigration bus arrived shortly before 4pm today at the detention center off South Dock road. Magnetic Media counted 30 plus males and around 20 females as they filed one by one into the holding center.

Police on Wednesday confirmed to Magnetic Media that none of the suspected illegal Haitians who landed on deserted Bush Cay around Christmas Day in our archipelago were ever found. The Haitian Consulate also had officials on site in this first interception in months in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
