Providenciales, TCI, January 27, 2017 – It happened last week, but the performances earned students of Turks and Caicos high schools rave reviews which continue to linger due to the work put into their presentations at the 19th Annual HIV/AIDS Inter High School debate.

Armed with facts, figures and well sharpened perspectives, battle ready is the most fitting description for the students who participated under the moot: “Be it resolved, societal awareness of HIV/AIDS is enough to guarantee zero new infections and deaths, fight stigma and empower people”.   Eight schools participated including new comers Elite High School and Long Bay High School.

The event was opened by Education Minister, Josephine Connolly, excitement at the skill of the debaters was expressed by Health Promotion and Advocacy Unit Director, Aldora Robinson and in the closing, the Health and Human Services Minister, Edwin Astwood highlighted the relevance and construction of the arguments presented.

First place went to Clement Howell High, Raymond Gardiner of North Caicos came in second with Long Bay High directly on their heels in third place.  Best female speaker is Jameika Noel of Clement Howell High and best male speaker was named, Joshua Maghoo of Raymond Gardiner.  The debaters were described as immensely talented.

Congratulations.
