High praises for DDME’s quick response in the aftermath of Snake Hills fire

Providenciales, TCI, September 17, 2016 – Blue Hills MP with high commendation for DDME Team in the aftermath of a fire in his constituency which has left 5 families homeless.  Two infants and two primary school aged children are among thos now homeless after a fire around 8’oclock last night in Snake Hill.

Hon. Goldray Ewing said, “I mean they did a simply marvelous job of quickly assessing the needs and getting support for the victims.  They were marvelous and Monday we will meet again to determine what is needed by then.”

Getting shelter for the five families is the priority said the Member of Parliament, who also said to Magnetic Media moments ago that we are working ‘to see if families can take them in.’  An assessment synopsis revealed this:

‘Following our meeting with our various partners and victims, an initial needs assessment was undertaken which revealed priority or basic concerns are for food, clothing and shelter.  Through our partners we were able to get supplies or commitment for the following.

Food: $1,000 from IGA (Gift Certificates), $250 from Anglican Church (Gift Certificates)

School supplies: School bags & school supplies from Anglican Church

Clothing/toiletries: Red Cross

Sheets/towels: Alexandra Resorts (committed)

A total of 20 persons/ 5 families affected: 2 infants; 2 primary school age, 1 LBay High School, 1 TCIP.  The victims require immediate temporary housing given the weather conditions.  We have approached ADRA to seek assistance in this regard.

Magnetic Media is told donations can be dropped off at Social Services.
