PROVIDENCIALES, TURKS AND CAICOS, March 26, 2026: The Turks and Caicos Islands Red Cross (TCI Red Cross) has officially launched its Hello Baby Bundle program at Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, marking a meaningful step forward in strengthening support for new mothers and their newborns across the Islands.
The initiative provides thoughtfully prepared baby care packages to every new mother, offering essential items to help families navigate the first days of a child’s life. Each bundle includes a baby bag filled with diapers, wipes, clothing, a towel, a blanket, and other necessities, carefully curated through a blend of new and gently used items restored with care.
“This program is a simple but powerful expression of compassion,” said Candianne Williams, Director of the Turks and Caicos Islands Red Cross. “It ensures that every mother feels supported and every newborn is welcomed with love, dignity and care.”
Williams noted that the program builds on the Red Cross’ longstanding partnership with Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, where the organization has consistently responded to the needs of mothers and infants.
“This initiative was inspired by ongoing requests for newborn essentials and the dedication of our staff and volunteers,” she said. “We are especially proud of the commitment shown by our Thrift Store Manager, Paula Garland, who has gone above and beyond, even outside of regular hours, to ensure families receive the support they need.”
The concept was further strengthened when team member Kate Solecki introduced the idea of preparing ready-made bundles for immediate distribution. These initial bundles were quickly utilized during a crisis response, highlighting both the demand for and impact of the initiative. With encouragement from medical professionals, including Dr. Braithwaite of InterHealth Medical Centre, the program was expanded to serve all new mothers delivering at the facility.
A standout contribution to the program came from a student of Holy Family Academy, Mcxene Francisco, who embraced the initiative as a community project. She created the name Hello Baby Bundle, designed its logo, and worked alongside the Red Cross team to assemble the packages, demonstrating the meaningful role young people can play in community service.
The program also reflects a strong commitment to sustainability. Through the Red Cross Thrift Store, gently used items are given a second life, reducing waste while supporting families in need and strengthening community well-being.
“We extend our sincere thanks to our volunteers, donors, and sponsors, as well as a dedicated midwife volunteer who contributed helpful guidance for new mothers included in each package,” Williams added. “Their collective efforts ensure that every bundle is prepared with care and compassion.”
The Hello Baby Bundle program is now available to all new mothers at Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, reinforcing the Red Cross’ mission of providing humanitarian support where it is needed most.
