Nassau, Bahamas (August 5, 2025)– In communities across The Bahamas, people are quietly showing up for others by mentoring youth, feeding families, creating safe spaces and, in many other ways, extending compassion without expecting recognition. These are people the CIBC Caribbean Unsung Heroes campaign is seeking to honour with the help of the public.

As the new August 22 deadline for nominations draws near, a respected panel of Bahamian judges has been assembled to help identify those whose efforts truly deserve to be brought into the light. Each judge, equipped with a proven record of community leadership and advocacy, is standing by to evaluate the nominations submitted by members of the public at www.cibccaribbean.com/unsung-heroes.

Keturah Babb-Higgs, Executive Director of the UB IGNITE Project and Director of Government Relations at the University of The Bahamas, has built a career centered on youth empowerment, civic engagement, and national development. Her leadership has directly contributed to major grant funding and institutional growth, particularly in northern campuses of the university.

Joining her is Matthew Aubry, Executive Director of the Organization for Responsible Governance (ORG), whose work spans decades and continents. A passionate advocate for social justice and democratic accountability, Aubry has led initiatives that empower citizens, strengthen civil society, and promote transparent governance.

Shavaughn Moss, the Lifestyles Editor at The Nassau Guardian, brings more than three decades of experience in storytelling and highlighting everyday excellence in The Bahamas. Her dedication to sharing real, human-centered narratives positions her perfectly to help identify this year’s most deserving nominees.

Also serving as a judge is Adrianna Fox, a visionary business leader and philanthropist. As Chief Operating Officer of Island Luck and Vice President of the Fox Group of Companies, she has helped scale major Bahamian enterprises while launching initiatives such as the Women Entrepreneurship Episode under the Fox Foundation. Her passion for community upliftment and women’s economic empowerment is unmistakable.

Completing the panel is Edison Sumner, a seasoned commercial diplomat and entrepreneur. Known for his role as former CEO of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and his current service as President of the Bahamas Red Cross Society, Sumner brings strategic insight and a strong track record of national and international collaboration.

Together, these five leaders will review submissions from across the country to select those whose efforts exemplify the spirit of the Unsung Heroes campaign. Nominees can be anyone age ten or older who has positively impacted their community, whether through years of quiet service or through a singular act of bravery or kindness within the past year. The only condition is that their work has not yet received widespread recognition.

Local winners will be announced after the nomination deadline and will advance to the regional level. The top three regional honorees will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Barbados this October. CIBC Caribbean encourages everyone to nominate someone whose good deeds deserve the spotlight.
