PROVIDENCIALES, Turks & Caicos Islands: — Beaches Turks & Caicos has reaffirmed its commitment to nation-building and youth empowerment with the successful completion of its 2025 summer internship programme which welcomed more than 100 secondary and tertiary students from across the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The programme, a cornerstone of the resort’s corporate social responsibility efforts, provided participants with valuable opportunities for professional growth, personal development and exposure to careers in the hospitality industry.

Managing Director, James McAnally, commended the interns for their dedication and growth throughout the six-week experience.

“What stood out most about this group was their journey from being recent high school graduates to young professionals preparing to enter the hospitality industry. Their ability to embrace challenges, learn new skills and contribute meaningfully speak volumes about their potential. I am inspired by the youth of the Turks and Caicos Islands and grateful that Beaches could play a role in shaping their future.”

Human Resources Manager, Owenta Coleby, praised her team for delivering another impactful programme and underscored its long-term value. “This initiative was designed to put young people at the centre and equip them with transferable skills and mentorship from experienced professionals. The training we provide at Beaches is unique; it is offered at no cost to participants and it represents an investment in the future of both our interns and the Turks and Caicos Islands.”

Phildreka Mayham, learning and development manager, shared that the programme was intentionally structured to go beyond workplace skills.                                                                                                                                                                                                                   “Our goal was to prepare interns not only for careers but also for success in life. Workshops in brand and image management, financial literacy and customer service excellence were included to give participants practical tools for both their professional and personal journeys.”

The internship programme also received high praise from Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Hon. Rachel Taylor, who stated, “the support provided by Beaches for the development of our youth is incomparable. Giving more than 100 young people the opportunity to be immersed in the daily operations of the resort reflects the leadership’s true commitment to youth empowerment and education.”

Former Youth Parliamentarian, President of the Rotaract Club and guest speaker Andy Missick echoed this sentiment during the closing ceremony and reminded graduates to apply their training with purpose.

“Beaches Turks and Caicos has invested in your growth with training that enhances both professional and emotional intelligence. Build on these lessons and challenge yourselves to keep growing.”

The interns reflected positively on the experience. Public Relations intern and second-year college student Joshua Hall remarked, “I have done other internships, but Beaches is definitely a standout. I am grateful for all I was able to learn and I will carry these lessons throughout my professional life.”

Front Desk intern Deliyah Quant added, “this internship taught me confidence, discipline and professionalism. I feel more prepared to take on new challenges and I’m thankful for the mentorship I received.”

As the 2025 internship concludes, the voices of participants like Joshua and Deliyah highlight the heart of the initiative, aimed at equipping young people with the confidence, skills and experiences needed to thrive.

Beaches Turks & Caicos remains committed to investing in the next generation because today’s empowered youth are the foundation of tomorrow’s Turks and Caicos Islands.
