Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Thursday, 17 July 2025: A joint enforcement exercise was conducted in the Five Cays and Blue Hills areas on Wednesday, 18 June 2025, with the issuance of Enforcement Notices, Letters of Illegal Occupation and Notices of Unauthorised Occupation by both the Crown Land Unit and the Planning Department, pursuant to the Crown Land and the Physical Planning Ordinances. The operation was supported by the Informal Settlements Unit, the Turks and Caicos Islands Border Force, and the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, which provided security.

The exercise targeted a number of parcels across Blocks 60610, 60604, and 60503, where several illegally constructed buildings, some made of concrete and timber, were identified. A total of eleven (11) Letters of Illegal Occupation were issued to individuals unlawfully occupying Crown land. These were delivered by hand to occupants where possible, and affixed to structures when residents were not present. In addition, four (4) Section 22 Notices of Unauthorised Occupation under the Crown Land Ordinance were served on incomplete and unoccupied structures.

Parcels 60604/29 and 60604/33, were also the subject of enforcement action. On these parcels, thirteen (13) Enforcement Notices were issued by the Planning Department for breaches of planning regulations.

This coordinated effort reinforces the government’s ongoing commitment to enforcing land use regulations and addressing illegal occupation. The Informal Settlements Unit and its partner agencies remain dedicated to promoting lawful development and the orderly growth of communities across the Turks and Caicos Islands.
