PRESS RELEASE

FROM THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE

TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Friday, 4 July 2025: The Governor’s Office wishes to announce the return of the British Royal Navy vessel, HMS Medway, to the Turks and Caicos Islands.  The ship will arrive in Grand Turk during the morning of Friday, 4th July 2025.

HMS Medway actively supports counter-narcotics efforts across the region, regularly conducting joint operations with US authorities to disrupt the illegal drugs trade. HMS Medway has on board advanced capabilities and state-of-the-art surveillance equipment that support its patrol and prevention operations.

HMS Medway also plays a vital role in strengthening regional readiness during the Atlantic hurricane season and is equipped to deliver humanitarian relief to British Overseas Territories and neighbouring nations in times of crisis.  As part of this visit, the Crisis Response Troop on board HMS Medway will carry out a simulated beach landing exercise and joint training with the TCI Regiment, supporting our ongoing commitment to develop capability.

Residents of Grand Turk are advised kindly of the ship’s arrival and the scheduled beach exercise on Friday morning.  Activities will not impact regular cruise port operations.

Her Excellency the Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam, said:

“I welcome HMS Medway’s return to patrol in the territorial waters of the Turks and Caicos Islands as part of its enduring commitment to regional security, international cooperation and humanitarian assistance.  This further visit highlights the strong and growing partnership between the ship’s company and the TCI Regiment, as we work to build capability, safeguard our territorial waters and enhance regional stability.”
