Turks and Caicos, June 3, 2025 – On June 2, 2025, the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA) hosted its annual Congress, bringing together TCIFA and Council members to discuss the past, present and future of football in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Hosted at the TCIFA National Academy on Providenciales, the event showcased the TCIFA’s feature on Concacaf’s “Federation in Focus.” It also underscored strategic initiatives and programs, as well as the status of infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing the football landscape in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
“We are thrilled to have hosted another successful Congress this year,” said TCIFA President Sonia Fulford. “The insights gained and the collaborations formed will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and success of football within our community and beyond.”
The Congress also recognised outstanding contributions from partners, local clubs and individuals, celebrating their achievements in promoting football excellence.
Four seats were contested in the council elections, including the Director of Finance and three council member positions. All four nominees were elected by acclamation, as each candidate ran unopposed. The TCIFA council now consists of:
President: Sonia Fulford
1st Vice President: Michael McDonald
2nd Vice President: Lisa Garland
Council Member: Steven Kendrew
Council Member: Paula Garland
Council Member: Ira Baptiste
Elected Positions:
Director of Finance: Ryan Blain (4-year term)
Council Member: Patrice Senior (4-year term)
Council Member: Kenneth Adams (1 year to complete a 4-year term)
Council Member: Jamaine Malcolm (1 year to complete a 4-year term)
Furthermore, after years of dedicated service to the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA), Mr. Oliver Smith has been approved by Congress to become an honorary member of the organization. His unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions have significantly influenced the development of football in the Turks and Caicos Islands. President Sonia Fulford praised Mr. Smith’s enduring passion and leadership, noting that they have inspired many and established a standard for future generations. His legacy will undoubtedly continue to resonate within the community, encouraging others to embrace the spirit of teamwork and dedication that football represents.
The Congress concluded with a renewed commitment from all attendees to continue building a supportive and inclusive environment for football, where players of all ages and abilities are encouraged. As the TCIFA looks ahead to another year, the association remains steadfast in its mission to elevate the sport and foster a sense of unity and pride within the community.
