Turks and Caicos, June 20, 2025 – An intensive 72-hour operation was successfully carried out by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) from 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11th, to 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14th.

“Operation Dragon” focused on the Blue Hills area of Providenciales and extended to nearby settlements, including La Tortue, Rony Yard, Mary Jane Lane, Snake Hill, and the area behind the African Store.

This presence aims to establish a robust and sustained law enforcement presence in identified high-risk areas. It is geared towards deterring illegal activity, apprehending wanted individuals, and dismantling the operations of organised criminal groups engaged in illegal immigration, drug and firearms trafficking.

The operation yielded significant results: 36 illegal immigrants were detained, 158 dwellings were searched, and 97 vehicles were stopped. Officers also searched 65 individuals, seized five vehicles, issued 24 tickets, and conducted 14 snap raids and 10 vehicle checkpoints.

Seizures included two ounces of cannabis and a grinder, one gambling machine with $480 in cash, and two offensive weapons.   Additionally, officers responded to two major incidents, including a reported shooting.

The public response to the operation was overwhelmingly positive. Residents expressed appreciation for the enhanced police presence and welcomed the sense of safety and reassurance it brought to their communities. The vehicle checkpoints and flag marches were exceptionally well received, and cooperation from the public increased as the operation progressed.
