PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands – Delton Jones, Director of Ports and current Vice Chairman of the Port Management Association of the Caribbean (PMAC), will lead a delegation from the Turks and Caicos
Islands Ports Authority, including Board Member Mrs. Tracy Parker, at the 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of PMAC. The conference will take place in Curaçao from June 4th to 6th, 2025.
PMAC’s AGM brings together representatives from its 19 member ports and associate members to review port performance and strategize on critical issues facing the shipping sector. This year’s agenda features dedicated sessions on:
- Modernization: Port Infrastructure and Equipment
- Technological Innovation: Port Automation and Digitalization
- Environmental Stewardship: Decarbonization and Green Energy
- Humanization: Human Resource Sustainability
Additionally, strategic sessions will cover:
- Port Financing: Essential for successful port transformation
- Port Resilience
- Port Master Planning
- AI and Technology Implications for Port Labor
Director Jones is slated to speak on the port modernization panel, where he will highlight the Ports Authority’s experience in fostering sustainable livelihoods in the TCI through ongoing infrastructure and capacity development, alongside port digitalization initiatives.
The AGM will also see the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding between PMAC and various development agencies, aimed at advancing the organization’s work plan. Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour and observe operations at Curaçao’s main international port.
The Ports Authority will be seeking to reclaim the prestigious Nova Port Cup. This award, presented at a gala dinner at the end of the AGM, recognizes the highest-performing PMAC member port based on several efficiency benchmarks.
The Ports Authority proudly won the Nova Port Cup in both 2021 and 2023.
