Providenciales, June 20, 2025 — The Ministry of Health and Human Services uniquely invites men aged 17 and older to their “Healthy Living, Healthy Legacy” symposium on June 28 at the Salvation Army Complex. Organized by the Health Promotion and Advocacy Unit, the event encourages open dialogue on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

The invitation arrives amid stark global data underscoring men’s health vulnerabilities. According to the CDC, 14.7 % of U.S. men report fair or poor health, with 39 % obese50 % hypertensive, and 12.5 % smoking regularly. Mental health challenges are equally pressing—nearly one in ten men experience depression or anxiety, yet fewer than half seek help, and male suicide rates are nearly four times higher than females.

Caribbean men fare no better.  A PAHO/WHO analysis highlights excess male mortality from violence, chronic disease, and low engagement with health promotion. Life expectancy globally is about 6 years lower for men than women, driven by factors including smoking, alcohol use, and reluctance to seek treatment.

The symposium’s keynote focus on “resilience and purpose” directly addresses these data, offering a safe space for men to learn from experts and take proactive steps toward better health. The Ministry emphasizes that empowering men enhances families and communities, reinforcing their pivotal role in national well-being.

Local registration is open through area clinics and health centers. Health officials urge participation: investing in men is investing in the future.
