Turks and Caicos, June 28, 2025 – Turks and Caicos celebrated the official birthday of His Majesty King Charles III with a grand military-style parade at the Parade Grounds in Grand Turk on Saturday, June 21, where 10 uniformed officers were honoured for their long-standing service across key national security departments.
The ceremony, a staple of the national calendar, recognized three officers from the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (54 years of combined service), three from the Department of Corrections (68 years), and four from the Border Force (72 years)—a total of 194 years of service to the nation. These honours were presented by Her Excellency Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam during the official parade.
In her address, the Governor commended the unwavering commitment of the country’s uniformed forces. “Your presence on parade is not just ceremonial—it is a visible testament to your daily commitment to protect and serve,” she said. She emphasized the vital role of each security unit, including the Regiment, which continues to strengthen the Islands’ defence capabilities and civic resilience.
The Governor also paid tribute to the late Hon. Henry Leon Wilson, a former legislator and national figure, with a solemn moment of silence in his memory. She spoke of His Majesty King Charles III’s dedication to public duty even amid personal health challenges, praising his leadership as an anchor and inspiration to nations across the Commonwealth. “Leadership, as exemplified by His Majesty, calls for thoughtful deliberation, steadiness, and a steadfast commitment to service,” she remarked.
Premier Hon. Washington Misick, who also delivered remarks, praised the parade as a reflection of shared Commonwealth traditions and values. “This annual observance reminds us of the strength and unity that binds us across countries, islands, cultures, and generations,” he said. “Your professionalism on parade today represents the very best of Turks and Caicos.”
The parade, which was broadcast live and watched by over 17,000 viewers, also featured cadets, scouts, guides, and other youth groups—who were singled out by the Governor as symbols of the nation’s future.
As the Turks and Caicos Islands marked this public holiday with formal ceremony and community celebrations, the event stood as a vibrant expression of national pride, continuity, and the enduring value of public service.
