Turks and Caicos, May 21, 2025 – A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in the Leeward Palms community of Providenciales on Sunday, May 18, when a seven-year-old boy was fatally struck by a vehicle while playing near his home.

According to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, the incident occurred around 1:01 p.m. on Palm Well Drive. Initial reports indicate the child ran unexpectedly into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by a 43-year-old woman. The driver immediately stopped and attempted to assist the boy before alerting authorities.

The child’s father rushed him to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, but despite swift action and medical efforts, the boy was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Emergency Room. Police have since confirmed that the female driver is being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation being led by the Traffic Enforcement Unit.

Magnetic Media has learned that the little boy was the only child of his parents and belonged to two large, well-known families in Turks and Caicos. The emotional toll has been immense, with relatives, friends, and the wider community left reeling from the devastating news. Residents in the area were visibly shaken as police cordoned off Hibiscus Lane, where the SUV involved was examined at the scene.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force has extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and pledged a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. As the community mourns this unimaginable loss, an outpouring of prayers and support has begun to flow from across the islands.

This tragedy marks another deeply sorrowful moment for Turks and Caicos, reminding all of the fragility of life and the need for vigilance, especially in residential areas where children are at play.
