Turks and Caicos, May 28, 2025 – It is with regret that we confirm the passing of Walkner Emiliano Nunez Selver, a 24-year-old Turks and Caicos Islander of Dominican heritage, following a tragic diving accident at the popular Noah’s Ark floating bar.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, April 13, 2025, when Selver reportedly made a shallow dive into the waters surrounding Noah’s Ark. He sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the Dominican Republic for advanced medical treatment a day or two later. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
According to reports reaching our newsroom, Selver was laid to rest in the Dominican Republic on Monday, May 26, with videos of the burial shared with Eagle Legal News by grieving friends and family.
Walkner Selver was the son of well-known local businessman Gilbert Selver. Loved ones describe him as a bright young man whose life was cut tragically short in what they say has been treated as a mere accident.
Prominent community and religious figures, including Bishop Coleta Williams III of Abundant Life Ministries International in Providenciales, have publicly denounced what they describe as “lawless, loose, and sinful” activity at Noah’s Ark, especially on Sundays. Bishop Williams and others have called on government authorities to take action, citing a moral decline and the erosion of traditional observances.
Critics are now questioning the lack of official response, noting that more than six weeks have passed since the incident and no public statement or investigation has been confirmed by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF). Many are voicing concern that the case is being overlooked, despite the deadly outcome.
Selver’s death has reignited debate around public safety, oversight of offshore recreational venues, and the cultural shift in weekend norms in the TCI.
