Let’s Move TCI Island Run Draws Strong Community Turnout with 123 Participants Across Three Races

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Wednesday, 21 May 2025:  Over 120 people took part in the Let’s Move TCI Island Run, an event designed to encourage healthier lifestyles through walking and running. Held in Providenciales, the event featured three race categories—a 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon—with a combined total of 123 participants.

Organised as part of the wider Let’s Move TCI campaign, the event aimed to promote physical activity and community involvement in a simple but meaningful way. Runners of all ages and fitness levels participated, with many walking or jogging their way to the finish line.

Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture Hon. Rachel Taylor, who completed the 5K, shared:

“It was an absolute joy to not only witness but also participate in the Let’s Move TCI Island Run. Completing the 5K alongside so many determined and enthusiastic individuals reminded me of the power of community and movement. This event continues to inspire a culture of wellness, and I commend every participant for taking a step, literally and figuratively, toward a healthier lifestyle. I applaud the Sports Commission and our partners for leading this national effort.”

Minister of Health and Human Services Hon. Kyle Knowles added:

“The Ministry of Health is proud to partner with the Let’s Move TCI campaign in promoting healthier lifestyles across our islands. I extend sincere congratulations to all the participants of the Island Run. Your dedication to fitness and wellness is an inspiration and a powerful example of what it means to take charge of your health. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier Turks and Caicos Islands.”

Director of Sports Jarrett Forbes also expressed appreciation:

“I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the participants of the Let’s Move TCI Island Run. Whether you ran, walked, or cheered from the sidelines, your energy and commitment made this event a meaningful one. Events like these are a reminder that every small step toward fitness and wellness counts.”
