Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Wednesday, 21 May 2025: Students from Clement Howell High School and Wesley Methodist High School embarked on an educational leadership journey as they travelled to Florida to participate in the Florida District Key Club Leadership Conference.

On Wednesday, April 23rd, eight students from Clement Howell High School and seven students from Wesley Methodist High School left the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) to engage in the District Education and Leadership Conference with more than 1,000 Key Clubbers from across the Florida District. The 87th Annual District Conference was held at the Ocean Center Convention Center in Daytona Beach, Florida, between Thursday, 24 April and Sunday, 27 April 2025.  The Key Clubbers participated in a series of leadership workshops, networking opportunities, and community service initiatives.

Accompanying the students were four dedicated chaperones: Faculty Advisor Audrey Semple-Elliott, Kiwanis Advisors Michelle Robinson and Felicita Cox-Walkin, and Lieutenant Governor of the Florida District, Stephen Morrison. Their presence underscored the importance of fostering leadership and service among young people in the region.

“I am proud to see our young leaders taking proactive steps to develop their skills and contribute positively to their communities,” said Honourable Rachel M. Taylor, Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture. “Participation in international conferences such as this provides invaluable experience and broadens their perspectives. I commend the students and their mentors for representing the Turks and Caicos Islands with pride and enthusiasm. We remain committed to supporting initiatives that empower our youth and cultivate the leaders of tomorrow.”

Mr Morrison posited, “I take great pride in our youth who have represented their schools and the Turks and Caicos Islands admirably. This Key Club leadership conference provided a valuable opportunity for our young individuals to gain international exposure, connect, and network with peers who share similar interests, helping them understand that they are not isolated in their experiences. The leadership training, club management skills, and service project ideas acquired during the conference will equip them to become more impactful servant leaders in their schools and communities. The future of the Turks and Caicos Islands is looking bright!”                                                                                                                                            The Key Club leadership conference represents an important opportunity for students to enhance their leadership capabilities, forge new friendships, and learn best practices in community service. The Turks and Caicos Islands community look forward to the positive impact these young leaders will continue to make.
