Turks and Caicos, May 6, 2025 – The Royal Police Force extends condolences to the family and friends of a 40-year-old woman who tragically lost her life in a motor vehicle collision that occurred Monday May 5, 2025.
At approximately 10:26 pm, officers from the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force and medical personnel responded to reports of a serious collision involving two vehicles at the junction of Long Bay Highway and east Leeward Highway.
Upon arrival, officers observed two vehicles facing south with extensive frontal damage and deployed airbags. Six patients were transported to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre (CHMC) for treatment. The EMTS administered CPR en route to one of the victims, a female who became unresponsive during transport.
Despite all life-saving efforts, the patient, identified as DESIR GRACIEUSE, succumbed to her injuries.
Initial police investigations reveal that Gracieuse was travelling west and collided with the second vehicle entering Long Bay Road. The male driver of the second motor vehicle is currently receiving treatment and assisting the police.
Four female passengers in the vehicle driven by the deceased received treatment and have been discharged.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit is continuing investigations into the circumstances.
