PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands; Tuesday, 8th April, 2025 – The 2025 TCI Top Model Contest continues to deliver world-class training to its contestants and models as part of its transformative development series. This weekend, aspiring models participated in a high-impact workshop titled “Life in the Spotlight – Working with Talent: The Process”—an insightful masterclass designed to deepen their understanding of the business side of the fashion and entertainment industries.
Led by Nikira John, Director of Corporate Communications, Brand Development and Marketing at FortisTCI Ltd, the session offered a comprehensive breakdown of the professional workflow between talent and brands. From initial casting to final execution, participants were guided through each stage of the partnership process—including brand alignment, partnership agreements, usage rights and compensation.
A major highlight was the interactive component where contestants analysed and edited a partnership agreement, identifying key red flags and proposing fairer, clearer solutions. The session also addressed essential soft skills, with a focus on reliability, respect, adaptability, and communication—traits that set apart great talent in competitive spaces.
“In this industry, your brand is your business. Understanding the process—from selection to partnership agreements and compensation—empowers talent to take ownership of their careers, avoid costly oversights, and make informed decisions,” said John. “Professionalism, clear communication, and knowing your worth in negotiations are just as important as talent and creativity.”
“Working with talent goes far beyond the surface. It’s about building trust, defining expectations, and ensuring mutual value through clear agreements. When aspiring models understand all facets of the business—they are empowered to protect their brand and elevate their craft,” said FortisTCI Ltd’s Director of Corporate Communications, Brand Development & Marketing.
Courtney Robinson, Executive Producer of the TCI Top Model Contest, underscored the importance of real-world education in model development. “We’re not just preparing contestants for a show—we’re preparing them for a career. Sessions like these offer insight, strategy, and empowerment, ensuring they step into the industry as informed professionals.”
This level of preparation is not only vital—it’s transformative. By equipping contestants with real-world knowledge and professional insight, the TCI Top Model Contest is shaping confident, career-ready individuals who understand the full scope of the industry. It’s more than a competition; it’s a masterclass in becoming the complete package.
