Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) will be under new leadership as Her Excellency the Governor has officially announced the appointment of Mr. Fitz Bailey as the next Commissioner of Police. The appointment, effective immediately, will span a three-year term and marks a pivotal step in strengthening law enforcement leadership across the islands.

Mr. Bailey’s appointment follows a comprehensive and transparent recruitment process, which included a Governor-chaired interview panel, a community consultation panel, and engagement with Hon. Premier Charles Washington Misick, OBE.

In a statement, Her Excellency the Governor praised Mr. Bailey’s proven leadership and vision:

“Following a competitive recruitment process, I have appointed Mr. Fitz Bailey as the next Commissioner of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force. This appointment signals a renewed commitment to safety, public confidence, and the rule of law in every community. The security of our Islands requires bold leadership, modern policing strategies, and the development of our capabilities. Having led the RTCIPF as Acting Commissioner for the past several months, I am confident that Mr. Bailey brings the necessary depth of experience, vision, and determination needed to lead this effort and ensure the safety of our communities.”

In his response, Mr. Bailey described the appointment as a deeply personal and professional honor.

“I am deeply honoured and humbled to accept the role of Commissioner of Police. This experience is more than a professional milestone—it is a profound responsibility to serve and protect the people of the Beautiful by Nature, Turks and Caicos Islands, with integrity, fairness, and dedication,” said Mr. Bailey.

With a law enforcement career spanning four decades, Mr. Bailey brings an impressive track record. He most recently served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), where he oversaw Crime Security and Intelligence. His academic achievements include two Master of Science degrees—one in Psychology and Criminal Investigation from the University of Liverpool and another in National Security and Strategies from the University of the West Indies—as well as an Associate degree in Accounting from MIND. He was awarded the Jamaica Order of Distinction in 2021.

As the Turks and Caicos Islands continue to confront security challenges, Mr. Bailey emphasized a collaborative approach, focused on trust and community engagement.

“Together, through collaboration and trust, we will build a police service that not only enforces the law but also inspires confidence and unity within our society,” he stated.

The appointment is expected to bring continuity and renewed strategic direction to policing efforts across the territory.
