Cabinet Confirms Permanent Relief Measures on Essential Imports and Fuel Tax

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – Wednesday, 9 April 2025: The Turks and Caicos Islands Border Force wishes to inform the public of two significant developments aimed at supporting the cost of living and improving efficiency in border operations.

Effective 7 April 2025, the Customs Import Duty Exemption on Bread and Basket Items has been extended permanently. This policy, initially implemented as a temporary measure, is now a standing commitment by the Turks and Caicos Islands’ Government to ensure that essential goods remain accessible and affordable to all residents.

Border Force also advises that the permanent fuel tax reduction to $0.64 per gallon is now live in the Customs management system; ASYCUDA World as of 1April 2025. Importers will now see this updated rate automatically applied to fuel imports.

“These changes reflect our deep commitment to the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands and reinforce our promise to make daily life more affordable”, said Minister of Immigration and Border Services, Hon. Jamell Robinson. “We are not just talking about making life more affordable; we are taking decisive, permanent action to deliver real relief to households and businesses. By locking in these reductions on essential goods, fuel, and customs processing, we are strengthening our economy, protecting our citizens, and ensuring that prosperity is shared more fairly across the Turks and Caicos Islands.”
