Ramon Andrews fined, no prison for former Tourist Board Director

Wednesday February 12, 2025 – Turks and Caicos Islands ​ – On Monday, February 10, 2025, the Supreme Court handed down the following sentence on 45-year-old RAMON ANDREWS.

  1. A fine of $5,000.00 to be paid in 14 days. ​ 2. $352.00 restitution to the successor of the Turks and Caicos Islands Tourist Board (TCITB). ​
  2. Disqualification from holding a public office for 2 years from Feb 10, 2025 ​

Present at the sentencing hearing before his Lordship The Hon Mr. Justice Chris Selochan were the Deputy Director of Public Prosecution Dr/Mrs. Angela Brooks and Principal Public Prosecutor Mr. Clement Joseph, along with the defendant and his King’s Counsel defense team. Head of this investigation was Mr. Brant Gager of the Turks and Caicos Islands Integrity Commission. ​

There were originally six charges against Andrews, however at the conclusion or in the final days of the trial, Mr. Oliver Smith KC was successful in getting his Lordship The Hon Judge To toss out the majority of the charges on a “No case submission” application. ​

The jury was left to consider or deliberate only on count one and count two. ​ On Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024, the jury found RAMON ANDREWS guilty ​ on count #2 and not guilty on count #1. ​

His bail was extended to enable him to remain free until his sentencing on 29th January 2025. ​

Principal Public Prosecutor Mr. Clement Joseph represented the crown for the past five weeks in the criminal trial against Roman Andrews. ​ ​
