FROM THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, YOUTH, SPORTS AND CULTURE
Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands 27th February 2025– Education Week 2025 will be observed between March 2 – 7, 2025 under the theme “Reimagining Education for Better Futures.”
The Week will commence with Ecumenical Services to invite God’s presence and ask for His blessings on the planned activities.
Services on all islands except South Caicos, will be held on Sunday March 2nd during the regular morning service time at the following churches:
Salem Baptist Church – Grand Turk
Mt Lebanon Baptist Church – North and Middle Caicos
Abundant Life Ministries International – Providenciales
The service on South Caicos will take place at 9:30 am on Monday March 3rd at New Testament Church of God. We invite the various island communities to support our teachers, students and the Department/Ministry of Education through their participation in the Ecumenical Services and activities throughout the week.
On Monday March 3rd two national events will be held. In the morning there will be the 2nd Annual Local Studies Competition for primary schools which will be held at the Salvation Army’s Brighter Futures Centre between 10 am and 3 pm.
The second event, The Education Symposium, scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm, will also be held at the Salvation Army’s Brighter Futures Centre. The symposium will address the topic of the importance of parental involvement in the success of students in school. It is a topic that is crucial to any discussion or activities that can be implemented to reimagine education for better futures.
As both events will be live streamed, we invite the support of parents and the country at large to participate in the various activities. Where you can attend in person, please do.
On the evening of Tuesday March 4th, we return to the Salvation Army’s Brighter Futures Centre for the 2nd Annual Local Studies Competition for high schools. Do not miss out on the opportunity to support your various alma maters and test your knowledge of our history and culture.
During the week there will be different activities at various schools, public and private, throughout the country. Do not miss out on the opportunity to support our schools and your children as schools highlight their skills, talents and work. Supporting school activities is an essential part of parental involvement, so parents check out your children’s school web pages and make plans to attend the various activities.
On Wednesday March 5th and Thursday March 6th, we will join our partner, Fortis TCI, at the Gustarvus Lightbourne Sports Complex for the 13th annual Science and Technology Fair. Four competitions will highlight the resilience, intelligence and potential of our students; a debate between High Schools, a Primary School Quiz Competition, a Poster Competition, and the big one, the Science Project. Friday March 7th will be observed as Teacher’s Day. Collectively, we will celebrate our teachers and the work they do to chart a path to better futures for our children. We invite everyone to reach out to a teacher or the teachers who is making or have made a positive impact on your development.
All residents are invited to join us during the week as we reimagine education for better futures.
