Rules Committee Reinstates Third-Place Game Following Forfeiture Incident

Turks and Caicos, January 25, 2025 – The Turks and Caicos Islands Sports Commission, in consultation with the TCISS tournament Rules Committee, has ruled that the third-place game between Elite High School and HJ Robinson High School will proceed this evening.

This decision follows last night’s semifinal of the TCISS Inter-High School Basketball Championships, where Elite High School forfeited after their head coach was ejected. The Rules Committee has since met with the school’s administration and determined that the head coach is suspended from the tournament and will not be permitted at the facility. The school has been directed to assign another coach for the game.

We recognize the passion and commitment of our student-athletes, and this decision was made in the spirit of fairness and ensuring that players have the opportunity to compete. We appreciate the cooperation of both schools and their teams in maintaining the integrity of the tournament.

The tournament schedule remains as follows:

• Third-Place Game: Elite High School vs. HJ Robinson High School
• Championship Game: Clement Howell High School vs. Wesley Methodist High School
• Game tip-off: 4:00 PM
