Press Release

Turks and Caicos, January 6, 2025 – It is with profound sadness that I extend heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Coach Jim Kelly Joseph, whose untimely passing in a tragic boating accident has sent shockwaves through our community.

Coach Joseph was more than just a boxing trainer—he was a mentor, a motivator, and a pillar of strength for so many in our Turks and Caicos sporting community. His passion for boxing and his dedication to nurturing young talent have left an indelible mark on the lives he touched and the athletes he guided.

The legacy of discipline, resilience, and excellence he instilled in his students will remain a testament to his life’s work. His passing is not only a great loss to the world of sports but to the Turks and Caicos Islands as a whole.

During this incredibly difficult time, I ask that we come together as a nation to support his grieving family, his friends, and the wider sporting fraternity. Let us honor his memory by continuing to uplift and inspire others in the same spirit that Coach Joseph demonstrated throughout his life.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy live on in the hearts of those he inspired.

Hon. Edwin Astwood

Political Leader, PDM
