Turks and Caicos Islands Participates in the 67th Caribbean Meteorological Council

Turks and Caicos, December 11, 2024 – The Turks and Caicos Islands joined regional leaders and meteorological experts at the 67th Caribbean Meteorological Council session, hosted in Tortola, Virgin Islands, from November 18–22, 2024. This important event focused on advancing regional initiatives in weather, climate, and disaster management.

Representing the TCI, Dr. Holly Hamilton, Director of TCIAA’s MET Department, shared insights on 2024’s extreme weather impacts in the Turks and Caicos Islands. She brought to light the strides in resilience through enhanced forecasting, early warnings, and public engagement.

The Council emphasized regional collaboration, prioritizing improved meteorological services, maritime safety, and impact-based forecasting, while tackling challenges like staff retention and technical capacity building.
