GRAND BAHAMA, The Bahamas – Mrs. Ann Marie Davis of the Office of the Spouse of the Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis, hailed the newly installed Grand Bahama Chapter of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW) as a signal of progress.

“For Grand Bahama specifically, the Business and Professional Women’s establishment signals hope and opportunity at a time when this island is poised for growth and transformation,” she said during her remarks at the official installation of directors and officers of the new Grand Bahama Chapter.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Mrs. Davis at The Pavillion at the Grand Lucayan Resort on December 14, 2024.

Mrs. Davis pointed out that women will play a pivotal role in driving the innovation and social organizations on Grand Bahama as the island continues its recovery and resurgence.

“Tonight, we celebrate a transformative milestone in a journey of empowering women here in Grand Bahama and we especially recognize the visionary leadership of the newly-elected president, Dr. Anastacia Lewis, whose dedication to this cause is a source of hope and inspiration,” she said.

Mrs. Davis commended Dr. Lewis for embracing the call to action and leading the chapter into what she knows will be a future filled with meaningful impact and growth.

She noted that organizations like BPW are vital not only to the communities they serve, but in a broader mission of uplifting women and addressing the persistent challenges they face.

“Through mentorship, networking and professional development, the Business and Professional Women will serve as a catalyst for growth, helping women navigate their careers, building businesses and stepping into leadership roles that shape our communities,” Mrs. Davis said.

Mrs. Davis stressed that BPW empowers women to speak up, advocate for equality, challenge the status quo and gives women the tools to become greater participants in the workplace and society.

She added that the BPW also helps women to become architects for a better future and can serve as a source of inspiration for young girls and women.

BPW Grand Bahama President Lewis revealed that the historic moment was eight months in the making, and that the BPW UK President Joanne Kinsey was on hand to officiate the installation ceremony.
