FROM THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION YOUTH, SPORTS AND CULTURE
Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands 25th November 2024– The Department of Education is proud to announce the expansion of the “Greening Our Schools” and “Farming in Schools” programme, two transformative initiatives that are empowering students to lead a sustainable and innovative future.
The “Greening Our Schools” programme creates eco-friendly schools by fostering sustainable practices, improving the biodiversity of school environments, renewable energy use, water reduction and waste reduction. This programme is cultivating environmentally conscious learners while improving the aesthetics of our school environments.
The “Farming in Schools” programme goes beyond teaching students about sustainable agriculture. It incorporates entrepreneurship, inspiring students to think like business owners by growing, marketing, and selling their produce. Through hands-on experiences, students learn farming fundamentals while gaining critical skills in marketing, budgeting, and project management. These activities help instill a sense of responsibility, creativity, and financial literacy, ensuring they are prepared for future careers and opportunities.
We Need You to Help Us Grow Green!
Our vision for a greener Turks and Caicos Islands requires community support. We are inviting community members, local businesses, and organisations to join this growing green movement.
