Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands 13th November 2024 – On November 4th-9th, 2024, the Turks and Caicos Islands Border Force conducted a series of district checks across Providenciales, successfully apprehending 92 irregular migrants in which six of these individuals were apprehended during Operation Might in collaboration with the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.
Among those detained were 82 males, including one minor, and 10 females, including one minor. The individuals are believed to be primarily Haitian nationals, along with one Jamaican male.
The Minister of Immigration and Border Services, Honourable Arlington Musgrove stated, “Our commitment to securing the borders of the Turks and Caicos Islands is unwavering. Let this be a warning to those attempting to enter the Turks and Caicos Islands illegally and to anyone aiding them — you will be held accountable. I commend our Border Force Officers for their commitment and vigilance in safeguarding our borders.“
Border Force is dedicated to dismantling criminal networks that facilitate illegal immigration and to ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice for their exploitative actions. Additional information will be provided as the investigation continues.
The public is reminded that harbouring or facilitating the entry of illegal migrants is a serious criminal offense under the Immigration Ordinance, carrying penalties of up to $20,000 in fines and up to four years of imprisonment. Authorities are committed to prosecuting any individuals found violating these laws to the fullest extent.
