APPOINTMENT OF NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR (NSA)

Turks and Caicos, November 12, 2024 – Her Excellency the Governor and Hon. Premier as co-chairs of the Turks and Caicos Islands National Security Council (NSC) are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. John Priddy as National Security Advisor (NSA) to the National Security Secretariat.

Mr. Priddy appointment follows a distinguished career across several agencies within the Unites States Government, primarily – the Department of Homeland Security, which includes Customs and Border Protection. His most recent role was Executive Director, Air and Marine Operations for the Southeast Region which includes the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The National Security Advisor will support the work of the National Security Secretariat (NSS) to drive forward our National Security Strategy, ensuring the co-ordination of multi-agency efforts and international partnership to develop our security, intelligence and Defence posture.

Commenting on the appointment, the Governor and Premier said:

‘This role is critical in supporting our efforts to ensure the safety and security of our Islands. Mr. Priddy brings a wealth of strategic defence experience, including a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by the Turks and Caicos Islands and the region. With this appointment, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening our defence capabilities, enhancing our intelligence networks and fostering partnerships that will protect our national interests.’

TCI’s National Security Council recently approved the formation of a new national security governance and framework model that Mr. Priddy will assist with its implementation.

Mr. Priddy’s appointment is for a period of two years.
