TCI Red Cross Enhances First Aid Training with Expert Visit

OCTOBER 17, 2024- Providenciales, Turks and Caicos: The Turks and Caicos Islands Red Cross (TCIRC) is thrilled to announce a significant milestone in its mission to provide top-tier first aid training in the TCI.

The organization had the distinct honor and privilege of hosting. Augustus Forde, the former Director General of the Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross and Coordinator of the First Aid Program in Trinidad and Tobago. Mr. Forde, a Master First Aid Instructor, visited the TCI branch to enhance their capacity in first aid training.
In a statement, TCIRC Director Candianne Williams expressed the organization’s delight in welcoming Mr. Forde. She said, “We were pleased to welcome Mr. Forde. His comprehensive training sessions for our First Aid Instructors guarantee their certification and re-certification in American Red Cross First Aid Training Courses. This thorough training empowers our instructors with cutting-edge, science-based techniques in life-saving care. It equips them to provide top-tier first aid, CPR, and AED training to our community.”

Mr. Ford expressed his sincere gratitude on behalf of the Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross Society to the TCIRC family for the courtesy extended to him during his visit and for the opportunity to share his expertise and knowledge with the First Aid Team.

He said, “It was truly a privilege to share acquired skills and knowledge, witnessing the team’s unwavering dedication in absorbing every moment of it.”

He continued, “Our commitment lies in delivering exceptional experiences alongside our Red Cross family to enhance our global dedication and ensure sustainability for all.'”

The TCI Red Cross is proud to offer American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED training courses. Upon successful completion of these courses, participants receive a two-year certification that meets OSHA workplace requirements and healthcare provider certification needs. This training is based on the latest scientific advancements in lifesaving care, ensuring that our community is equipped with the most up-to-date skills and knowledge.

Williams added, “We are committed to empowering our community to move from being bystanders when an accident or emergency occurs to being lifesavers by providing knowledge essential for successful first aid. We can train more persons to be heroes and step up when the time comes because of this instructor training, which has increased our capacity.”

She added. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to our corporate partners, InterCaribbean Airways, The Tides, Gracebay Car Rental, and Potts of Gold Restaurant, for their invaluable support. Their contributions have been instrumental in making this training program a success.”
