Coroner’s Court busy with Vehicular Fatalities

Turks and Caicos Islands, Tuesday, October 22, 2024 – As we continue our coverage of the coronial inquests into motor vehicle fatalities, we return to the Coroner’s Court proceedings held on Friday, October 18, 2024. The Hon. Coroner Ms. Mickia Mills presided over the following cases:

  1. Jarell Clarke (1997-2023)

Cause of Death: Provisional cause of death is Blunt Force Injuries.

Clarke, who died on July 13, 2023, had his inquest adjourned due to the unavailability of necessary documentation.

  1. Romello Delancy (1996-2023)

Cause of Death: Provisional cause of death is Blunt Force Injuries to the head.

Delancy’s inquest was opened and subsequently adjourned to a later date. He passed away on August 11, 2023.

  1. Shaquille Gardiner (1993-2021)

Gardiner lost control of his vehicle in 2021, colliding with the wall of All Saints Missionary Baptist Church, where he became trapped under the dashboard and succumbed to his injuries. His cause of death was confirmed as Blunt Force Injuries, and the inquest is ongoing.

  1. Robert Hanchell (1975-2020)

Incident Date: August 9, 2020

Hanchell, who was riding a motorcycle, died following a vehicular accident. The inquest has been adjourned.

  1. Kenneth Walters (2020)

Walters’ case, also listed on Friday, was adjourned. Eagle Legal News confirms that this matter is additionally listed in the Supreme Court, where an individual has been charged in connection with his death.

  1. Ken Mather, Jr. (1987-2020)

Incident Date: February 9, 2020

Mather’s inquest, like others, has been adjourned.

An additional report on further coronial inquest matters called for mention on Friday will follow. These inquests bring families closer to closure as they seek answers about the loss of their loved ones.
