Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands 18th October 2024 – On Thursday, October 9, 2024, a multi-agency enforcement exercise took place in Five Cays, Providenciales. This initiative, spearheaded by the Planning Department of the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) and coordinated by the Informal Settlements Unit (ISU), received valuable support from the Crown Land Unit (CLU) and was safeguarded by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF). This action was taken in response to multiple complaints from private landowners regarding the proliferation of illegal structures on their property.

A total of ten (10) Building Control Notices were issued to the occupants of illegal structures. These Notices were either handed directly to the occupants or posted on the structures where no one was present at the time of the visit. The issuance of Building Control Notices is an essential step in addressing unregulated development and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations in TCI.

The ISU, in partnership with the Planning Department and other government agencies, remains committed to conducting enforcement exercises that promote safer, more sustainable communities across the Turks and Caicos Islands.
