Turks and Caicos, September 23, 2024 – The Office of the Deputy Governor is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Edwin Myers to the position of Senior Finance Officer within the Financial Supplies and Management Department of the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Investment.

Mr Myers comes with a robust educational background and a wealth of experience. He is currently pursuing his ACCA (Association of Chartered Accountants) qualification. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Birmingham (2023), as well as an Associate’s Degree in Business Studies from the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College (2019). His academic journey is impressive, having been named a National Scholar of the Turks and Caicos Islands in 2017 after obtaining 11 CXC passes and graduating with a Diploma with Distinction from H J Robinson High School.

Edwin demonstrated leadership qualities early in his career, serving as the President of the H J Robinson High School’s Interact Club in 2017 and later as the Student Guild President at the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College in 2019. His public service journey began as an intern in the Department of Statistics in June 2019, where he later became a Statistical Technician (Temporary). After obtaining his degree, he continued to build his professional experience through internships, including a role at the Office of the Chief Internal Auditor under the TCI National Internship Program in 2022 and within the Finance Department of Graceway Trading Ltd. in 2023. Most recently, in August 2023, he served as a Finance Officer within the Financial Services and Supplies Management Department, focusing on bi-weekly payroll duties for staff.

Speaking on his promotion, Mr. Myers said, “I try to go forward in life by the quote, ‘Anything’s possible, you have to dream like you’ve never seen obstacles’ – Jermaine Cole. I want to thank God for seeing me through this far and pray He continues guiding me. I’m also grateful to my friends and family for continuously supporting me through my education and always being there when needed. I am happy and excited to be promoted to Senior Finance Officer in the Financial Supplies and Management Department within the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Investment. I am very thankful for this opportunity. My previous role as a Finance Officer gave me much-needed experience to grow, especially taking part in the Pay and Regrading exercise last December, and I am proud that my hard work has paid off. I will continue to thrive and continue pushing forward to keep growing as an individual and a civil servant.”

Deputy Governor and Head of the Public Service, H. E. Anya Williams, praised Edwin’s advancement, saying, “Edwin Myers is a shining example of what dedication and hard work can achieve. Having had the opportunity to work directly with him on the implementation of the Turks and Caicos Islands new grading structure, I can state without a doubt that his commitment to excellence in public service is commendable. In a very short time he has gained significant experience in the operations of the Treasury and has become an invaluable team member. I have every confidence that he will thrive in his new role as Senior Finance Officer.

I look forward to Mr. Myer’s continuous growth and invaluable contributions to enhancing the department’s financial management capabilities and believe that he has a bright public service career ahead of him.

Congratulations, on your promotion and rapid advancement in the Public Service Mr. Myers”.
