Turks and Caicos Multi-Island Brand to be Boosted with American Airlines Flight to South Caicos
Non-stop Flights are scheduled to begin on February 15th, 2025
PROVIDENCIALES, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS – Experience Turks and Caicos is pleased to welcome American Airlines non-stop service to South Caicos starting February 15th, 2025.
American Airlines will operate two flights per week from Miami to the Norman B Saunders Airport, South Caicos and will be the only US carrier to fly to the island. The “Big South” will become the second destination for the carrier within the Turks and Caicos Islands, strengthening the Turks and Caicos’ brand as a multi-island destination.
“This new service aligns perfectly with our policy vision to diversify the tourism offering and ensure that each island within the Turks and Caicos Islands benefit from the tourism industry,” said Minister of Tourism, the Hon Josephine Connolly. “By enhancing
accessibility to South Caicos, we are opening up new avenues for economic development and providing unique and enriching opportunities for our visitors. Together we aspire to forge a promising future, creating a wealth of opportunities for our citizens and delivering unparalleled experiences for our visitors.”
The American Airlines flight will launch the same day that Salterra, A Luxury Collection Resort and Spa, is slated to open in South Caicos.
Mr. Alvin Hegner, Chairman of Experience Turks and Caicos, said his team is working assiduously to enhance and develop the tourism product in South Caicos in preparation for the influx of visitors in 2025 as a result of the new airlift and hotel.
“South Caicos is our fishing capital but it is also full of history. From the Salinas, a reminder of the sea salt industry that the Turks and Caicos once depended on to Cockburn Town where Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh visited on the Royal Yacht Britannia, visitors can take day tours to learn about the history or take in sights such as the Boiling Hole, an underwater passage that connects the ocean to the main salina pond. There are countless marine activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, bone-fishing and a range of activities year-round such as the highly anticipated South Caicos Regatta. We recently appointed a local representative to South Caicos to assist in the enhancement and development of the Big South and I am certain the community will benefit from all of these new developments,” he said.

Flights from Miami to the Norman B Saunders Airport will depart at 10.05 am and arrive at 12.27 pm. They will leave South Caicos at 1.44 pm and arrive in Miami at 3.55 pm.

Off the track, Flow mobilised engagement through the interactive sales booth. The site became a hub for activity, featuring Spin the Wheel promotions and gift certificate giveaways during Q&A intermissions, ensuring the energy of the crowd remained high.

The TCHTA Star Awards spotlight the link between public safety and tourism performance, acknowledging that a stable and safe environment is essential to visitor confidence, investment and the continued growth of the sector.

Healthcare professionals conducted structured sessions addressing hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol management, nutrition, exercise, smoking cessation, and the early warning signs of heart disease.
House Call Talk Show Feature
A dedicated Heart Month episode of the hospital’s House Call program provided expert discussion on cardiovascular risk factors and prevention strategies, empowering viewers with practical, evidence-based guidance.
Red Fridays Awareness Campaign
Throughout the month, staff wore red every Friday to increase visibility around heart disease awareness and reinforce the campaign’s message within the community.
Heart Strong 5K Walk/Run
In collaboration with the Rotary Club, TCI Hospital hosted a community-wide 5K walk/run to promote physical activity as a cornerstone of
heart health. The walk/run also provided an opportunity for community screening.
Digital Health Education Campaign
To expand its reach, TCI Hospital also shared ongoing heart health education tips and prevention messages across its social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. These posts provided actionable guidance on diet, exercise, blood pressure control, and lifestyle modification, and encouraging community members to learn CPR.
