Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands 10th August, 2024 – The Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TCIG) stands in solidarity with the countries and people affected by the passage of Hurricane Beryl during the first week of July 2024. Understanding the profound impact of such natural disasters, the TCIG is committed to supporting the recovery efforts of our Caribbean neighbours.
The Turks and Caicos Islands Government is pleased to announce a significant financial contribution of seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($750,000) to the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) Coordinating Unit (CU). This substantial support, evenly distributed among the three countries most affected by Hurricane Beryl—St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, and Jamaica—will provide a crucial boost to their recovery efforts, with each country receiving two hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($250,000).
It is our sincere hope that this contribution will serve as a beacon of hope, aiding in the recovery and resilience-building efforts within these nations. We believe that it will help to restore livelihoods and strengthen communities as they bravely rebuild in the aftermath of this devastating hurricane.
The Turks and Caicos Islands Government also thanks CDEMA CU for their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to regional disaster management and recovery. Through collaborative support and regional solidarity, we can overcome the challenges of natural disasters and emerge more resilient together.
