August 4th,2024, Grand Turk Investigations Officers of the Serious Crime Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force are actively investigating two suspected murders that occurred in Grand Turk today (August 04th) Around 4:59 pm, the Police Control Room received reports of gunshots being heard near the Parade Ground, Back Salina. Officers and medical personnel were dispatched and discovered the motionless body of a male with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. At 3:15 pm, officers had been notified that the body of a female was found in a house in the Palm Grove district.
A 37-year-old female has been identified as the deceased; however, her name will not be released until family members have been informed.
In a brief statement issued on Sunday August 4, Commissioner of Police Edvin Martin said, “This afternoon’s incidents can only be described as callous, senseless, and heart-wrenching. I understand the fear caused by these incidents and assure you that no stone will be left unturned in finding the perpetrators.
“As such, I am leading a team of detectives attached to the Serious Crime Unit to Grand Turk. These officers will assist in augmenting the strength of their colleagues. Tactical officers have also been deployed. Officers are working tediously and are conducting several leads to solve each case and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“I urge anyone with information on these incidents to contact us. Share whatever information you may have, including CCTV footage. Let us work together to make our communities safer.”
